PLACE PERSONALITY
Exercise: Describe each of these places as if they are a person. Imagine the physical place itself, with its qualities and attributes, shrinks down into a human form. Don't limit yourself to simple - tall, short, fat, skinny, etc. but feel free to go into detail. What do they look like? How do they talk? Walk? What do they like to eat?
Why: Here we're asking for you to look beyond the surface and to find the underlying emotional and intrinsic values of a particular place. What is the essence of this place, and how can you convey that in a description that might even make you think of it differently? Pushing beyond linear and concrete concepts is an exercise rooted in creative focus because it forces you to reimagine a play or concept through its essence rather than its actual definition.
Enhances Creative Focus which includes deep thinking, focus, pattern recognition, and creative problem-solving.
Example:
Chicago Personality
A tall blocky guy named Logan. His voice has a resonant, low reed-instrument like sound, and he always somehow towers over you. He's an extrovert, open and friendly. Spends more time talking about sports than the weather. He loves hotdogs, never with ketchup. Will defend his pizza vs. New York's or any other city's pizza. If you get lost or need help, he's more than happy to give directions. Though he may ask, who senchya?
