Exercise: Tourism is down in these cities, but you’ve got a winning solution to bring in visitors: A New Slogan! Create a city slogan in a very concise, snappy form. Share the positive (or funny) attributes of a place with the feelings attached. It can be serious, silly, whatever you like. Real examples of some state slogans include “Virginia Is For Lovers,” “Maryland of Opportunity,” “Vermont, Naturally.” Of course, yours can be far funnier than any real one, if you like. 

Why: Effective slogans are a perfect condensation of wit, description and enticement. Coming up with them requires apprehending diverse information and distilling down the essence in a way that “sells” the product in a split second, ideally makes people smile and simultaneously understand the value proposition and appreciate the linguistic artistry.  Such an exercise involves pure creative focus. 

Enhances Creative Focus which includes deep thinking, focus, pattern recognition, and creative problem-solving.

New York City 

  1. “George Washington Schlepped here” 

  2. “If you can make it there, you can’t necessarily make it out of there” 

  3. “ The City That Never Sweeps”
