BAND NAMES

Exercise: You're an A&R Exec at a hot new record label. Based on the descriptions of these bands, make up a memorable name for them. The best music groups often have names that are catchy and create an association in your mind, matching the bands' sound and look. Think about selling tickets and SWAG.

Why: Naming a music group stimulates the part of our brain where literal meets figurative, where the sound and feel of the word are as important as the meaning - and where the visual look of the name plays into its effectiveness, with such consideration as fonts, colors, stylized motifs and accompanying logo. This kind of brainstorming is a whimsical exercise in creative focus.

Enhances Creative Awareness which includes fine-tuning alertness to aesthetics, empathy, and drinking the world around you.

Example:

NIRVANA

Nirvana got its name when they were tossing around goofy names like "Pen Cap Chew" and "Ted Ed Fred" when vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain said they should go with something beautiful instead of raunchy or aggressive. They managed to choose one of the most beautiful words ever created and made history with it.
